Poland - Austria. Predicted line-ups and latest news, – June 21, 2024
The second round of the UEFA Euro 2024 group stage in Group D will start with a match between Poland and Austria.
Both teams started the tournament with defeats: Michał Probierz's wards failed to hold on to their winning score against the Netherlands and eventually lost 1-2, while the Austrians lost to France only thanks to Maximilian Wober's own goal.
Therefore, if the teams aim to reach the play-offs, a victory in today's match will be important for each team. The personnel problems in the Polish national team have already been solved: forward Robert Lewandowski and defender Pawel Dawidowicz, who missed the game with the Netherlands, have returned to the main squad. Both of them were injured during the Kadras' friendly matches.
Piotr Zieliński, who recently left one of the team's training sessions early accompanied by doctors, has also returned to work with the team.
Although Michał Probierz often chooses the tactics with one striker, we can predict that the game against Austria will feature two forwards. In addition to Adam Buksa, the author of the goal against the Netherlands, Lewandowski will take his place in the attack.
Dawidowicz is likely to replace Bartosz Salamon. Lech Poznań's defender had a bad match against the Netherlands, and in a conversation with the press after the game, he admitted that both goals conceded by Poland were on his conscience.
Brighton midfielder Jakub Moder came on for the second half in place of Sebastian Szymanski, and the latter managed to freshen up the attacking play, so we can assume that he will take his place under the attacking duo.
Probierz's vis-à-vis Ralf Rangnick will also be wary of making too many changes to the squad, but Marko Arnautovic is the obvious option for a return to the final third.
Patrick Wimmer could find a place on the wing, allowing Marcel Sabitzer to be utilised on the pitch, while the back line could remain the same unless there are fitness issues.
Based on these facts, the Dailysports team has prepared predicted line-ups for the match Poland vs Austria.
