Phoenix defender Isaiah Thomas recently recounted an alarming incident that happened to him. According to the basketball player, a teenager pointed an automatic rifle at him and his friends but refrained from pulling the trigger upon recognizing him.

“I am truly astonished at how these kids are moving around!!! Yesterday, I experienced a life-changing moment. A child pulled out an AK-47 and pointed it at me and my friends. If it weren’t for who I am (he recognized me in my city), he probably would have taken our lives,” Thomas wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Washington-born guard appeared in six games for the Phoenix Suns in the past regular season, averaging 1.3 points per game.

The 35-year-old Thomas is a two-time NBA All-Star. His standout season was with the Boston Celtics in 2016–17, where he averaged 28.0 points and 6.0 assists per game.
