Players' union unhappy with new transfer rules amid Diarra case rte.ie

In October, the European Court of Justice ruled FIFA's transfer regulations discriminatory, prompting the organization to implement changes. However, these adjustments have not been well-received by certain football organizations.

Details: FIFA has revised its rules for the January transfer window, introducing the concept of "just cause," which allows contracts to be terminated without subsequent compensation. The players' union FIFPRO has expressed dissatisfaction, arguing that the method for calculating compensation must be more transparent.

Quote: "Compensation must be calculated in an ‘objective and transparent manner’ and at a level sufficient to compensate the party harmed by the breach," stated FIFPRO.

Reminder: FIFA has previously called on all stakeholders for comprehensive dialogue to find a balanced solution that works for all parties.
