Many were quick to announce that Benatia had already left his post.
Details: According to the club's official page on X, 38-year-old Moroccan Medhi Benatia will remain in his role as Marseille's sporting director, despite earlier reports that he was set to depart.
It was previously reported that the club's management had accepted Benatia's resignation due to the team's unsatisfactory results, with the sporting director also held responsible. However, after further negotiations between the parties, Marseille's board managed to convince Benatia to stay on at least until the end of the season.
Earlier, head coach Roberto De Zerbi left Marseille, with Jacques Abardonado stepping in as interim head coach.
Currently, Marseille continues to fight for medals, sitting fourth in the standings with 40 points after 22 rounds.
