Pierre Ekwah leaves Saint-Etienne to join Auxerre on loan
The Cameroonian-born midfielder will therefore play in Ligue 1 during the 2026–2027 season.
Auxerre have officially announced the signing of Pierre Ekwah from Saint-Etienne on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The midfielder will therefore not be playing in Ligue 2 this season, but will return to the top flight of French football in the colours of Auxerre.
Pierre Ekwah is thus embarking on a second consecutive loan spell after spending six months at Watford during the second half of last season. However, if he manages to impress the French club’s management, he will not return to Saint-Etienne. Auxerre are expected to exercise their purchase option to keep him at the end of the 2026–2027 season.
The 24-year-old midfielder has experience in Ligue 1. Pierre Ekwah played in the French top flight with Saint-Étienne during the 2024–2025 season. He made 29 appearances in the top division.
