The new tattoo on the right shoulder of Ukraine's top-ranked tennis player, Elina Svitolina, features the symbol "Ї," and she explained its significance.

"I'm starting the year with a symbolic tattoo. This written symbol holds paramount importance for Ukraine; it represents the well-being of Ukraine and embodies the idea of Ukrainian independence.

Furthermore, my daughter's name, Skaï, includes this symbol, thereby reinforcing its significance," wrote Elina.

In early September 2022, the letter "Ї" became a symbol of resistance in Mariupol, temporarily occupied by Russian forces.

On January 2nd, Elina successfully started at the WTA 250 tournament in Auckland, defeating Caroline Wozniacki.
