Following a 4-1 thrashing by Argentina in World Cup qualifying, Brazil finds itself without a manager and scrambling for solutions. While Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti remains the Brazilian Football Confederation’s top target, a new name has re-entered the conversation: Manuel Pellegrini. According to Chilean outlet La Tercera, an intermediary from the CBF has already reached out to the 71-year-old’s camp. Pellegrini is currently enjoying a strong season with Real Betis, leading them to six straight La Liga wins.

Pellegrini, who once coached Manchester City, River Plate, and Real Madrid, is under contract with Betis until June 2026. While no formal offer has been made, the CBF reportedly views him as a serious candidate. Meanwhile, other names being floated include Jorge Jesus (Al Hilal), Abel Ferreira (Palmeiras), and Filipe Luis (Flamengo). Despite the speculation, any new coach would need to be in place by June, when Brazil faces Ecuador and Paraguay in critical qualifiers.
