Details: According to Diario Sport, the midfielder finished the cup match against Guadalajara with minor pain in his left soleus muscle.
After two days of rest, Pedri returned to the training ground, but the discomfort had not completely subsided, so the player trained individually in the gym. Medical tests ruled out a serious injury but confirmed muscle overload.
Given the risk of aggravating the issue and Pedri's history of muscular problems, the coaching staff does not intend to take any chances with his health. It is expected that Pedri will not be included in the squad for the La Liga fixture against Villarreal, which kicks off this Sunday at 16:15 CET.
However, the situation does not appear to be serious: as things stand, Pedri's participation in the derby against Espanyol on January 3 is not under threat.
