Lyon's head coach Paulo Fonseca has received a harsh penalty for striking the referee in the last Ligue 1 match.

Details: In the last match, Paulo Fonseca approached referee Benoit Millot closely, pressed his forehead against him, and began loudly voicing his complaints. This gesture was deemed extremely aggressive, which will likely result in severe disciplinary actions from the French football authorities.

According to LFP, the Portuguese specialist is disqualified for nine months, namely until 30 November 2025. Also, until 15 September, Fonseca is not even allowed to visit the team's locker room.

Head referee Millot reported that he hadn't even had the chance to announce his decision before facing the angry reaction from the Portuguese coach. He stated that such behavior was a shock to him.

Reminder: It was previously reported that Fonseca faced a potential seven-month suspension for headbutting Millot.
