Patrick Vieira is expected to call up Malang Sarr for the first time to the Lions of Teranga
The 27-year-old defender could finally represent Senegal on the international stage.
A former French youth international, Malang Sarr had been shortlisted by Pape Thiaw for the last FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. However, the former RC Lens defender was not included in the Lions of Teranga’s final squad. His absence from the trip to the Americas had even sparked controversy in Dakar
But Malang Sarr could now wear the Senegal jersey. According to L’Equipe, the Neom SC defender in Saudi Arabia is expected to be included in the squad selected by Senegal’s new manager, Patrick Vieira.
Malang Sarr is expected to be called up for the next international break, which will feature the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Ahead of this FIFA international break, Patrick Vieira will announce the squad for the Lions on Friday 18 September.
And Malang Sarr is set to be one of the new faces in the Senegal national team. If he is called up by Patrick Vieira, he will be a major boost for the Lions of Teranga’s defence.
