Patrick Vieira has still not signed a contract with Senegal despite his appointment as head coach of the Lions of Teranga
As the successor to Pape Thiaw, the former French international’s appointment was made official on 18 August.
However, according to reports in L’Equipe, Patrick Vieira has still not signed his contract with the Senegalese Football Federation. Several details still need to be finalised before his appointment can be finalised and he can be officially presented.
According to reports, the latest discussions centre on the composition of Patrick Vieira’s coaching staff and certain aspects of the project that the French tactician will be tasked with implementing with the Lions of Teranga. These matters must be clarified between the various parties before the official signing of the contract for Senegal’s new national team manager.
Internally, however, the situation is not considered a cause for concern. Senegalese officials do not appear to be particularly worried. No one seems to fear, therefore, that negotiations between Patrick and the Senegalese Football Federation might collapse at the last minute.
The process is continuing and the French manager is in Dakar. Patrick Vieira is expected to take charge of the Lions of Teranga from the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which are due to begin in September.
