The president of the Confederation of African Football will meet with the Senegalese authorities during his visit.

As announced a few days ago, Patrice Motsepe will be visiting Dakar. The trip is scheduled for Tuesday 7 April 2026. The CAF President is travelling to the land of the Lions of Teranga to try to ease the tension arising from the CAF Appeals Committee’s decision. This decision, taken on 17 March, stripped Senegal of the 2025 African Championship title and awarded it to Morocco.

This unprecedented decision has fuelled controversy and sparked a legal battle between Senegal and Morocco. The Senegalese Football Federation has referred the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to have the decision overturned, whilst Morocco is preparing its defence. Added to this is the imprisonment of 18 Senegalese supporters in Morocco. They were arrested during the incidents that occurred at the Africa Cup of Nations final on 18 January in Rabat.

Patrice Motsepe is travelling to Senegal to try to defuse this crisis between the two countries.
