The French tactician will lead the Moroccan club until the end of the season.

Patrice Carteron’s appointment as head coach of Wydad Casablanca was made official on the night of Tuesday 24 March 2026. The 55-year-old coach succeeds Mohamed Benhachem, who was sacked a few hours earlier.

The French coach is quite familiar with African football. Before taking the reins at Wydad Casablanca, he previously managed several clubs on the African continent. Patrice Carteron managed Al Ahly in 2018 (Egypt), Zamalek in 2019 (Egypt), Raja Casablanca in 2019 (Morocco) and TP Mazembe from 2013 to 2015 (DR Congo).
