Patience has run out. Pirlo has lost his position at a big-name club

Andrea Pirlo's career as a midfielder is truly legendary, but his achievements as a coach are far more modest and he lost his position at an illustrious club.

Before the start of last season Sampdoria, which dropped out of Serie A, it was Pirlo who took over. Then the team took seventh place in the championship and flew out in the first round of transitional matches from Palermo (2:0). Things have been much worse for the once Italian champions this season.

With three Serie B games, Sampdoria have not won a single one, only drawing with Frosinone in the first round (2:2). Amid the disappointing results, the patience of the club bosses ran out and, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Pirlo was sacked as head coach.

In the 2020/2021 season, the 45-year-old worked with the main team of Juventus Turin. With it, he won the Italian Cup and Super Cup, but only finished fourth in Serie A. In the Champions League, the Zebras were eliminated in the round of 16 by Porto, losing by the now forgotten away goal rule.
