Former IBF heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker admitted that Tyson Fury had assisted him with consultations to prepare for the fight against Deontay Wilder.
Parker and Wilder are set to face each other on December 23rd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of a significant boxing event.
“Tyson was able to give me some advice and some knowledge on fighting Deontay Wilder.
“The only difference is I’m not 6ft 9in with the longest reach, so whatever my strengths are I have to use them to the best of my ability. He has given me a few pointers and advice and he’s actually helped me with sparring so anytime I have needed Tyson’s help, he’s always been there, so thanks to him for always making time to help me, especially for this camp and this fight coming up.” Parker told Talk Sport.
New Zealander Parker, in his last fight in October of this year, secured victory by knockout against Simon Kean, clinching the IBF Inter-Continental & WBO Inter-Continental titles in the super heavyweight division. Wilder, in October 2022, knocked out Robert Helenius from Finland.
Another notable event on the boxing card on December 23rd is the fight between former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and Sweden's Otto Wallin. The full lineup of fights within the mega-show can be found here.
