Pape Thiaw is demanding several hundred million from the Senegalese Football Federation

A standoff is looming between the former head coach of the Lions of Teranga and the governing body of Senegalese football.

Sacked from his position as Senegal’s head coach last July, Pape Thiaw is now demanding payment of the sums he believes are owed to him. According to the Senegalese press, a formal notice has been served on the Senegalese Football Federation by Pape Thiaw’s lawyers.

The claim amounts to over 400 million CFA francs. Among the sums claimed are six months’ salary, totalling 180 million CFA francs. The Senegalese manager is also claiming various bonuses, allowances and the reimbursement of expenses incurred.

Added to this are 100 million CFA francs in bonuses linked to the Africa Cup of Nations and qualification for the 2026 World Cup. The Senegalese Football Federation now has eight days to respond to this formal notice.
