The manager of the Lions of Teranga sent them a message of solidarity following the international friendly between Senegal and Peru at the Stade de France on Saturday 28 March.

These supporters were arrested on 18 January 2026 during the Africa Cup of Nations final before later being sentenced to prison terms. Concerned about their situation, Pape Thiaw reaffirmed that he thinks of these supporters every day. They also have the support of the entire Senegalese nation, declared the 45-year-old manager.

Ever since they’ve been there, I pray for them at every prayer. We are with them wholeheartedly; we will never abandon them; we will fight to ensure they are reunited with their families. They had come to give their all and, unfortunately, this is how it turned out. Let’s hope they are reunited with their families as soon as possible. Stay strong, we are behind you; we will do everything we can.
