Pape Thiaw confident about Kalidou Koulibaly ahead of the World Cup
Selected for the tour of the United States, Canada and Mexico, the Senegalese coach was reassuring regarding the physical condition of the Teranga Lions’ captain.
Asked at a press conference about the situation of Kalidou Koulibaly, who suffered an injury at Al Hilal a few weeks ago, Pape Thiaw emphasised the defender’s importance to the Lions of Teranga squad. He highlighted the player’s leadership and experience.
Currently undergoing rehabilitation, the Senegal captain appears to be making good progress, according to Pape Thiaw. The Lions of Teranga manager remains confident that Kalidou Koulibaly will recover in time for the World Cup, which kicks off on 11 June.
Kalidou Koulibaly is the bedrock of this squad. He is undergoing rehabilitation. It’s looking positive; with three weeks to go, I think he’ll be fully fit. The World Cup isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. And I think he’ll be ready.
