Pape Gueye scores a brace to secure victory for Villarreal against Malaga in La Liga

The Senegalese international midfielder stood out during his team’s away match on 17 September, on matchday 6 of the Spanish league.

Trailing to Malaga from the 12th minute, Villarreal fought back to level the score before taking the lead. Alberto Moleiro equalised in the 40th minute to make it 1–1.

But Villarreal were able to count on their Senegalese player to completely turn the game around at Estadio La Rosaleda. The Senegalese international doubled his side’s lead before half-time.

Pape Gueye found the net with a left-footed shot from inside the box in first-half stoppage time to put Villarreal 2–1 ahead of Malaga. But the Senegalese midfielder wasn’t finished yet.

He returned in the 86th minute to complete his brace for the evening. Pape Gueye converted a penalty to seal Villarreal’s 3–1 victory. The Senegalese player has now scored three goals in six La Liga appearances for Villarreal in the league.
