Paolini will play in a Grand Slam final for the second consecutive time!
Today, the first finalist of Wimbledon 2024 in the women's singles tournament has been determined!
In the semifinal match, the world's seventh-ranked player, Jasmine Paolini, defeated Croatian tennis player Donna Vekić, who is ranked 37th in the WTA rankings and was playing in her first Grand Slam semifinal.
The first set was completely dominated by Vekić. The Croatian made two breaks and didn't lose a single game on her serve, winning 6-2.
However, in the second set, Paolini made a crucial break and claimed the victory with a score of 6-4. The finalist had to be decided in the third set, which went to a tiebreak, where the Italian narrowly won 10-8.
The second finalist will be determined in the match between Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina and Czech player Barbora Krejčíková.
Additionally, it is worth noting that Paolini also reached the final of the 2024 Roland Garros, where she was decisively defeated by Iga Świątek.
