Outrageous! Chinese basketball player sneaks girlfriend into hotel room… in a suitcase
Zhang Xinliang, a basketball player for the Guangzhou Loong Lions, came up with an unusual trick to sneak his girlfriend into his hotel room ahead of a game against Qingdao, reports Global Times.
According to videos posted on Chinese platform Weibo by his girlfriend, she hid inside a suitcase that Zhang carried into his room. The videos, which were later deleted, revealed their plan.
Zhang reportedly claimed that the stunt was to help his girlfriend with her studies, implying they were “studying” all night.
Unsurprisingly, once the incident came to light, the club acted swiftly and sanctioned the player by suspending him from upcoming games.
“Recently, Zhang Xinliang, a player for the Guangzhou Loong Lions basketball club, drew public attention for his inappropriate handling of personal matters. After consulting with club management and the coaching staff, the decision was made to exclude Zhang from the team,” read the club's official statement.
In an effort to mitigate the fallout, Zhang met with the coaches and management to apologize for his actions.
