Chelsea is hosting Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in the first-round match of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
The average age of Chelsea’s starting lineup for this marquee clash is just 23 years and 180 days, making it the second-youngest team in the Premier League's opening round since the 2008/2009 season.
Interestingly, the team with the youngest average age back then was Chelsea’s opponent today, Manchester City, with an average age of 22 years and 360 days.
It’s worth noting that Man City is starting the new season as the reigning champions of England, while Chelsea finished in sixth place in the previous campaign.
