Oumar Diakite receives suspension in Belgium
The Ivorian international was sent off against Sporting Charleroi in the 24th round of the Belgian championship.
The verdict has been handed down for Oumar Diakité after his straight red card in the Pro League last weekend. While away with Cercle Brugge at Sporting Charleroi, the 22-year-old centre forward was penalised by the referee in stoppage time in the first half.
The offence was a tackle on Khalifi after losing control of the ball. The Ivorian player hit the Moroccan midfielder's Achilles tendon and leg, which led to his sending off. After reviewing the incident, the Disciplinary Committee handed Oumar Diakité a two-match suspension and a one-match suspended suspension, plus a €2,500 fine.
Diakité is expected to miss the derby against Club Brugge on 15 February and the away match against La Gantoise on 20 February. However, Cercle Brugge may appeal the Ivorian's sanction.
