The Swiss club is reported to have enquired about the situation of the Ivorian international, who is under contract with Reims.

Oumar Diakité’s future is inevitably shaping up to be away from his French club, Reims, which has been playing in Ligue 2 since last season. Following his loan spell at Cercle Brugge in the Belgian Pro League during the 2025–2026 season, the 22-year-old striker could leave Stade de Reims.

Having reportedly recently turned down an offer to join Lincoln City in the Championship, Oumar Diakité has a new suitor for this summer’s transfer window.

FC Basel, who play in the Swiss Super League, are said to be keen to secure the services of the Ivory Coast international this summer. According to reports from Africafoot, the Swiss club have been making enquiries about the 22-year-old’s situation with a view to signing him to bolster their attack.

However, FC Basel have not yet reportedly submitted any offer in an attempt to convince Stade de Reims to let him go. Under contract with Stade de Reims until 30 June 2028, Oumar Diakité is valued at €5 million by Transfermarkt.

Playing for Cercle Brugge last season, Oumar Diakité scored 7 goals in the Pro League.
