Osimhen Vows Battle as Eagles Open AFCON 2025
Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen says the Super Eagles are ready to fight for glory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, despite mixed results after finishing runners-up last time. Confidence dipped further after a painful loss to DR Congo in the 2026 World Cup playoffs, leaving expectations low and Nigeria rated among the top five contenders.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s opener against Tanzania, Osimhen admitted the disappointment still hurts, saying, “For us, last month … was really disappointing,” but stressed belief remains. He added that the team wants to “send a clear message,” insisting, “It’s all about going to war… we will give everything.”
Nigeria face the Taifa Stars at the Complexe Sportif de Fes, with Osimhen leading the line as the Super Eagles chase a fourth continental title on Moroccan soil.
