Osimhen Leads Tributes After Joshua Crash Tragedy
Victor Osimhen has sent his condolences to heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua after a car crash in Nigeria claimed the lives of two people close to the former world champion. Joshua’s friends and trainers, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, died when the vehicle hit a stationary car.
According to BBC Sport, Joshua was rescued from the wreckage and taken to hospital with minor injuries. His promoters, Matchroom, confirmed he is in a “stable condition” and will remain under observation into the new year.
The accident came days after Joshua’s bout with Jake Paul. Speaking at the Africa Cup of Nations, Osimhen told the Athletic: “It’s devastating news… he’s been one of the huge celebrities that put Nigeria on the map… Condolences to the families of the deceased.”
Team-mates reacted. Bright Osayi-Samuel said, “Thankfully he was ok… it’s tragic,” while Wilfred Ndidi described the news as “really sad” and wished Joshua strength.
