Osimhen Arrival Completes Super Eagles Squad in Cairo
The Super Eagles camp in Cairo became complete on Wednesday night with the arrival of Victor Osimhen, lifting spirits as Nigeria intensified preparations for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Osimhen arrived at about 9:45 p.m. Nigerian time, completing the list of 28 invited players for the tournament scheduled from Dec. 21 to Jan. 18, 2026. Super Eagles Media Officer Promise Efoghe confirmed the development, calling it a major morale boost for the squad.
“Victor Osimhen joined the camp late Wednesday night… we now have all invited players in camp,” Efoghe said. “It is a big lift for the squad… final preparations begin in earnest.”
The team opened camp on Sunday at a Cairo hotel, trained twice, and lost 2-1 to Egypt in a friendly used mainly for assessment. “The friendly against Egypt was purely for assessment… fitness levels and tactical understanding,” Efoghe added.
Defenders Chidozie Awaziem and striker Paul Onuachu said lessons were learned and confidence remains high. “We are not discouraged… ready for our first group game,” Onuachu said.
The Super Eagles depart Cairo on Thursday for Fés for Group C matches there.
