Super Falcons legend Asisat Oshoala has criticised CAF and Morocco following Nigeria’s exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Super Eagles lost to hosts Morocco on penalties after a tense semifinal clash in Rabat, where the Atlas Lions had more attempts despite an even contest.

However, attention quickly shifted to officiating. Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea made several decisions that frustrated Nigerian players, adding to concerns already raised earlier in the tournament involving Morocco’s matches against Tanzania and Cameroon.

Oshoala said Nigeria’s defeat brought issues to a head, especially Morocco’s growing influence within African football. Taking to social media, she asked, “The big question here is when will this whole CAF compensation to Morocco end,” adding that “Awards, tournaments and all……it’s getting boring now.”

She wrote that “Everything concerning African football happens in Morocco, feels like that’s the new HQ,” a remark that has sparked debate across the continent.
