Once again at the center of controversy! Gianni Infantino accused of violating organization statutes over praise for Donald Trump
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has come under fire after publicly praising US President Donald Trump—an act that, according to a former FIFA official, breaches the organization’s principle of political neutrality enshrined in its statutes.

Details: During a speech at the American Business Forum in Miami, where Trump was also present, Infantino stated:
“We all need to support what Trump is doing, because in my view, everything looks very good.” - said the FIFA president
Infantino emphasized that he considers Trump a friend and expressed gratitude for his assistance in preparations for the World Cup.
Former FIFA governance committee chair Miguel Maduro called these remarks “a clear violation of the principle of political neutrality.” According to Maduro, Infantino “went beyond merely acknowledging the legitimacy of Trump’s election” and effectively endorsed his political agenda—something unacceptable for the head of an international sports body.
FIFA declined to comment on the accusations, but Miguel Maduro insists that such statements should prompt an investigation by the ethics committee. If violations are confirmed, Infantino could receive a reprimand, a fine, or a temporary ban from football activities.
Reminder: FIFA has announced the nominees for the 2025 Best FIFA Men's Player award.
