French football is currently on the verge of catastrophe and chaos as Ligue 1 struggles to find a broadcaster for the upcoming season.

According to the Financial Times, the Professional French League oversees the top two tiers of French football and has been trying to secure a broadcaster for Ligue 1 for the next season. This comes after their ambitions to secure a deal worth up to one billion euros fell through.

Initially, streaming company DAZN and broadcaster beIN were the main contenders for a contract spanning from 2024 to 2029. However, in October, an auction failed to take place as no bids were received at the reserve price of around 800 million euros.

Vincent Labrune, the president of the Professional French League, postponed the annual meeting scheduled for the first weeks of June to the end of the month and promised to propose a final decision.

It will be recalled that PSG's parting of ways with striker Kylian Mbappe was hardly amicable, and the Parisian club's bosses were so offended by the player that they even owed the forward his salary.
