Crashing out of the Champions League group stage has proved disastrous for the French giants.
Details: According to renowned journalist and insider Fabrice Hawkins on his social media page, the Marseille management is currently discussing the possible dismissal of 46-year-old Italian head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
The main catalyst for this consideration was Marseille's Champions League exit after a 3-0 defeat to Brugge, while Benfica defeated Real 4-2, snatching the last available spot in the next round of the group stage standings.
The final decision has not yet been made, but it is clear that De Zerbi's future at Marseille hangs by a thread.
Roberto De Zerbi took charge of Marseille in 2024. Under his leadership, the club has played 66 matches, recording 38 wins, 7 draws, and 21 defeats. De Zerbi's current contract with Marseille runs until 2027.
Reminder: Historic fiasco. Marseille become the first French club eliminated from the Champions League general league stage
