Olympic swimming champion Ariarne Titmus reveals regrets about her career
Ariarne Titmus, a four-time Olympic gold medalist in swimming, has confessed to having some regrets about her past, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Australian athlete shared that the relentless pace of her career, with constant training, competitions, and travel, prevented her from fully enjoying life and savoring the moments of her triumphs.
“At the time it seemed the right mindset to be in when you’re on the pursuit for Olympic gold. But in hindsight, I regret not enjoying the bigger moments more when I was younger. I was always looking to the next thing and not allowing myself the grace and time to be proud of myself,” the swimmer admitted.
Now, she is aiming to change her approach and start living in the present, savoring every moment.
The shift in her perspective was prompted by health issues: before the Paris Olympics, Titmus was diagnosed with two benign ovarian tumors. This has also sparked her thoughts about motherhood — in the future, she is very eager to become a mother.
To recharge, Titmus plans to take a vacation and relax on the island of Fiji.
