The Benin international has picked up an injury whilst playing for Ludogorets in Bulgaria.

This is a major blow for the Benin squad as they prepare for their two international friendlies against Liberia and Guinea on 27 and 31 March 2026. Gernot Rohr will have to do without Olivier Verdon’s services for this international break. The defender has suffered an injury and will be unable to take part in the national team’s next training camp.

Verdon was substituted in the 67th minute during the Bulgarian league match between Ludogorets and FK Spartak Varna on Thursday 19 March. An injury had forced him to make way. But ultimately, he is ruled out of the upcoming gathering of the Benin Cheetahs.

However, Gernot Rohr has found a replacement for Olivier Verdon. Jordan Lawson, who plays for Huesca’s U19s in Spain, has been called up to replace the 30-year-old defender.
