Former AC Milan, Chelsea, and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, now playing for LAFC, has fallen victim to a shocking burglary. According to TMZ, his Los Angeles home was broken into and robbed in early February.
Giroud’s wife, Jennifer, reported the break-in to police on February 5 after discovering a smashed window at their residence. The police report states that a significant amount of valuable items were stolen, including 10 men’s luxury watches. The estimated total value of the stolen goods is around $500,000.
The burglars have yet to be identified, and the police investigation remains ongoing.
Notably, Giroud is not the only high-profile athlete to be targeted recently. A string of burglaries has swept through the homes of sports stars in the U.S., with NFL players Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Burrow, as well as NHL star Evgeni Malkin and NBA player Luka Dončić, all reporting similar incidents.
Giroud moved to the U.S. last summer after leaving AC Milan. Over the past six months, the French forward has played 19 matches for LAFC, scoring two goals. This Saturday, he is set to kick off the new MLS season with his team.
