Sunday Oliseh has rejected claims he was biased against Nigeria during the Super Eagles’ 2-1 win over Tanzania in their AFCON 2025 opener in Fez. The former captain and ex-Borussia Dortmund midfielder worked as a co-commentator but drew criticism from some fans who felt his analysis was too harsh.

In a post on X, Oliseh said the attacks were unfair and ignored his long service to Nigerian football. He wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the recent suggestions on social media... my heart remains firmly with the players and Coach Eric Chelle.” He added that objective criticism is part of his job and should not be mistaken for disloyalty. “Constructive honesty is not a sign of dislike; it is a tool for improvement...”

Oliseh urged supporters to move on and back the team as Nigeria prepare to face Tunisia next. The next match could shape their route in the tournament.
