Mykhailo Mudryk's return to top-level football has been interrupted almost immediately.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham winger Mykhailo Mudryk has suffered an injury and is expected to be sidelined for approximately six to eight weeks. The setback means the Ukrainian will miss a significant part of the coming weeks just days after making his long-awaited return to competitive football.
Mudryk joined Tottenham from Chelsea on transfer deadline day on a paid loan. The agreement also includes a £75 million option to buy the Ukrainian winger, but the clause is not mandatory, meaning Spurs are under no obligation to make the move permanent.
The timing of the injury is particularly unfortunate for the 25-year-old. Mudryk made his official Tottenham debut on September 5 against Nottingham Forest, coming onto the pitch in the Premier League match that finished 0-0. It was his first competitive appearance since November 2024 and marked his return to professional football after an absence of more than 600 days.
The Ukrainian had only just begun a new chapter in north London under Roberto De Zerbi, with whom he previously worked at Shakhtar Donetsk. Now Tottenham will have to cope without one of their new attacking options for the next month and a half, with his recovery potentially stretching closer to two months.
It is worth noting that Tottenham's next Premier League match is scheduled for September 12 against Everton, meaning Mudryk will definitely be unavailable for the upcoming league fixture.
