Timo Werner returned to Leipzig but failed to establish himself as a regular this season and rediscover his former form. He decided to look for a new club.
Details: According to San Jose Earthquakes, they have reached an agreement with Leipzig over the transfer of the German forward.
Quote: “Moving to America is always an important decision, but everything is there to achieve success. The stadium and facilities are excellent. I was also very impressed that such an experienced manager as Bruce, who has achieved so much in the league, flew to Germany to discuss the plan with me.
Earthquakes fans can count on a player who gives everything on the pitch, in every match. At every club I joined, I wanted to win trophies. In the end, I always succeeded. That is why I want to come to San Jose — to win,” Werner said.
Last season in the MLS, San Jose finished tenth in the Western Conference standings. The team failed to reach the playoffs, collecting 41 points from 34 rounds and losing out to the ninth-placed side on tie-breakers.
Reminder: Manchester City are close to reaching an agreement with New England over the transfer of 18-year-old left-back Peyton Miller.
