The Italian center-back, Leonardo Bonucci, has inked a contract with Fenerbahçe.

The club's official website announced that the Turkish team has secured a deal with the Italian footballer until the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Fenerbahçe extended a warm welcome to Leonardo Bonucci and wished him success. It is noted that a pivotal role in Bonucci's decision was played by former Inter and Roma forward Edin Džeko, who convinced the Italian to accept the offer from the Istanbul-based club.

Earlier reports suggested that Bonucci might continue his career with Roma, but those plans did not come to fruition. Genoa was also among the contenders for the experienced player.

For reference, on September 1, 2023, Bonucci signed a contract with the German club Union Berlin. On September 20, 2023, he made his debut in a UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid, marking Union's inaugural game in the tournament. On October 7, he scored his first goal for the team, converting a penalty in a league match against Borussia Dortmund.

However, he did not receive sufficient playing time with the German team. He played ten matches for the new squad and scored one goal.
