Italian club Sassuolo's and the Italian national team footballer Domenico Berardi has suffered a severe injury and will miss the remainder of the season, as announced on the team's official website.

According to reports, diagnostic tests conducted on Domenico Berardi revealed a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon in his right leg. On Tuesday, March 5th, the player will undergo surgery at the "Casa di Cura Toniolo" clinic in Bologna.

The timeline for Berardi's recovery has not been specified. However, as reported by journalist Nicolo Schira, Berardi will not only miss the conclusion of this season but also the UEFA Euro 2024 Championship. It is known that players with such injuries typically return to play no sooner than six months. The player may return as early as 2025.

In the current season, Berardi has participated in 17 Serie A matches, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists. He has scored 8 goals in 28 appearances for the national team.

Domenico Berardi joined the youth academy of the Cosenza club at the age of 13, where he played until transferring to Sassuolo at the age of 16. On August 24, 2017, Berardi signed a new five-year contract with Sassuolo. On April 17, 2021, he scored a brace in a match against Fiorentina, marking his 100th goal for Sassuolo in all competitions.
