The defender, born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will play for the Italian Serie A side during the 2026–2027 season.

As expected, Willy Kambwala is leaving Villarreal in the Spanish La Liga on a temporary basis to join the Italian league. The 22-year-old defender has joined Como on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

The Italian club announced the arrival of the Congolese defender on Wednesday 26 August. The buy-out clause for Willy Kambwala includes a four-season contract and a fee of 10 million euros should Como wish to keep him at the end of his loan spell.

That said, if the former Manchester United player manages to impress the Italian club’s management, he will sign a permanent contract with the Italian club until 2031. When his transfer was made official, Willy Kambwala made no secret of his enthusiasm.

“I am absolutely delighted to be here, at this great club and in this beautiful city. I can sense the ambition here, and now I can’t wait to get started. My mindset is to never give up, and I will do everything I can to make the club and the fans proud.”
