The competition will now take place from 25 July to 16 August 2026.

Rumours had been circulating about this postponement for several days, and the Confederation of African Football confirmed it this Thursday 5 March 2026. The Women's Africa Cup of Nations, originally scheduled to take place from 17 March to 3 April 2026 in Morocco, will no longer be held on those dates. The governing body of African football has decided to reschedule the tournament for next summer.

However, the official announcement made on 5 March 2026 did not indicate which country will host the tournament.

Following discussions between CAF and its partners, FIFA and other stakeholders, CAF has decided to reschedule the dates of the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026 from 25 July to 16 August 2026 to ensure the success of this important women's competition, given certain unforeseen circumstances. Preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026 are underway and all parties are confident of its success.
