OFFICIAL: Red Bull Salzburg sacked Pepijn Lijnders

After Jürgen Klopp's departure from Liverpool, his assistant Pepijn Lijnders embarked on an independent managerial career, but it has been far from successful so far.

Details: Red Bull Salzburg has officially announced that Lijnders has been dismissed from his position as head coach of the team.

The Dutch coach had a contract with the "Bulls" until the summer of 2026, but the parties have agreed to a mutual termination.

Onur Cinel will serve as interim head coach.

After 16 rounds, Red Bull Salzburg is in fifth place in the Austrian Bundesliga with 26 points, trailing league leaders Sturm Graz by 10 points.

In the Champions League, Red Bull has earned just three points in their first six matches, leaving them with virtually no chance of advancing to the playoffs.

Reminder: Red Bull Salzburg is one of 12 European teams set to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.
