Official: Real Sociedad have dismissed head coach Sergio Francisco

Sergio Francisco is no longer the head coach of Real Sociedad.
Details: On December 14, 2025, the club announced that Sergio Francisco is stepping down as the first-team manager effective immediately. His assistant, Iosu Rivas, is also leaving his position.
For now, Real Sociedad B manager Ion Ansotegi will take temporary charge of the first team. He will lead the squad for the remaining two fixtures before the Christmas break, with Imanol Agirretxe joining him as assistant coach.
Today at 16:30 Central European Time, Ansotegi will hold his first training session with the first team behind closed doors.
It's worth noting that after 16 rounds, the Basques sit in 15th place, just one point clear of the relegation zone.
