Official: Real Sociedad Announces Signing of Senegal Defender Mamadou Sarr on Loan from Chelsea

Real Sociedad has officially confirmed that Senegal international Mamadou Sarr has joined the club from Chelsea on a loan deal.

The Spanish team confirmed the arrival of the centre-back with a post on their social media: "SARRR: BRAND NEW SIGNING 💙 La Real is already on his mind."

The move gives Sarr his second loan spell away from Stamford Bridge since joining Chelsea permanently from Strasbourg. There is no option to buy included in the deal for the defender.

He spent the first half of the 2025-26 season on loan at his former club Strasbourg, and after making 18 appearances, during which he regularly captained the side, he was recalled by Chelsea in February 2026. Sarr has managed to make seven first-team appearances for Chelsea.

The loan move to Real Sociedad will now give the 20-year-old an opportunity to gain more regular first-team football.
