OFFICIAL: Real Madrid legend to leave the club after this season
Real Madrid are set to finish a second consecutive season without silverware, and major changes await the club this summer, including the departure of one of its most iconic players.
Details: According to an official statement from Real Madrid, Spanish full-back Dani Carvajal will leave the club at the end of this season.
Quote: “Real Madrid and our captain Dani Carvajal have agreed to bring to an end an extraordinary chapter of his career with our club at the conclusion of this season. Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and deepest affection to one of the greatest legends in the history of our club and world football,” the club said in its statement.
Carvajal joined Real Madrid in 2002 and spent 23 seasons with the club — 10 in the youth ranks and 13 with the first team.
During his remarkable spell, he won 27 trophies: six European Cups, six Club World Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and four Spanish Super Cups. He made 450 appearances for Los Blancos and scored 14 goals.
As a reminder: Real Madrid have already decided on their head coach for next season, with the club set to bring back a former manager instead of retaining Álvaro Arbeloa.
