After a disappointing previous season, Napoli continues to bolster their squad for the upcoming campaign.

Today, Napoli officially announced the signing of Brazilian winger David Neres from Benfica. The transfer of the 27-year-old cost Napoli €30 million.

Neres has signed a contract with the Neapolitan club until the summer of 2028, with an option to extend for an additional season.

Last season, Neres scored 5 goals and provided 10 assists for Benfica across 35 matches in all competitions.

Before joining Benfica, Neres played for Ajax and São Paulo. He was a key player for the Amsterdam club in the 2017/18 season, during which they reached the Champions League semifinals.

In the winter of 2022, Neres transferred to Shakhtar Donetsk, but due to Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, he didn’t play a single match for them and subsequently moved to Benfica.

It is worth noting that Napoli is now managed by the legendary Antonio Conte. In the first round of Serie A, Napoli suffered a shocking 0-3 defeat to Verona.
