Álvaro Arbeloa will not remain in charge as Real Madrid head coach, as the club has confirmed its next manager.
Details: Real Madrid have officially announced the appointment of Portuguese coach José Mourinho as the new head coach.
The legendary Portuguese coach's return to the Santiago Bernabéu is a long-term commitment. The parties have signed a contract for the next three seasons, ending June 30, 2029. Florentino Pérez has entrusted "The Special One" with a complete overhaul of the squad and the return of the club to a dominant position both domestically and in the Champions League.
José Mourinho will officially assume his duties and lead the team on July 13, 2026. On that date, Los Blancos will return from their hiatus and begin preparations for the new season, kicking off a major pre-season campaign under the guidance of their old and new coach.
In 2010, Mourinho took charge of Real Madrid and remained at the club until 2013. During his spell, he won La Liga and the Copa del Rey with Los Blancos. However, he was unable to guide the team to UEFA Champions League glory.
Reminder: Real Madrid will pay around €7 million to terminate the coach’s contract early. For a managerial transfer, this is considered a significant fee.
