Official: Jonathan David leaves Lille as a free agent

Lille is having a strong season and could compete in European tournaments next year, but it’s now certain they’ll do so without Jonathan David.
Details: The Canadian striker announced on his social media that he will be leaving the club at the end of the current season. This Saturday, May 17, he will play his farewell match for Lille.
David has featured in 231 matches for Lille, scoring 109 goals—making him the club’s top scorer of the 21st century. He also provided 30 assists during his time with the team.
Fabrizio Romano reports that David has received an offer from Napoli, which he has not yet signed. Negotiations between the parties are ongoing.
Reminder: Barcelona is also interested in Lille’s winger and Kosovo international Edon Zhegrova. The Catalan club’s scouts have been tracking the 26-year-old’s progress for some time, viewing him as a strong alternative to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
