The Nerazzurri have already closed the Ausilio chapter: his right-hand man Dario Baccin is officially the new sporting director.

Details: Fabrizio Romano confirms it is official: Inter have appointed Dario Baccin as their new sporting director, with Piero Ausilio leaving the club with immediate effect. The 51-year-old Ausilio departs after 28 years at the club, with Premier League sides already attentive to his future.

Baccin, 50, is continuity in a suit. A former defender who came through Juventus' academy and played for Napoli among others, he moved into management after retiring in 2010, ran Palermo's academy and technical area, and joined Inter in July 2017 as Ausilio's assistant. For nine years he has overseen the Primavera, the loan army and the club's international scouting, including regular missions to South America in search of young talent. Now the deputy becomes the boss, taking charge of the squad built for Cristian Chivu just days after the transfer window closed. The timing is striking: Ausilio's exit was announced only this afternoon, and Inter have answered with an internal promotion rather than an external search, betting that the man who helped recruit the last decade of Nerazzurri talent is ready to run the whole operation.

It's worth noting that back in 2020 Baccin turned down the chance to become Parma's director of football, choosing to stay and wait for his moment at Inter, which has now arrived.

Reminder: Here we go! AC Milan midfielder seals sensational Ligue 1 return on deadline day.
