This summer, Chelsea is not only acquiring new players, but also releasing those who had no chance of making the starting lineup.
Today, French central defender Malang Sarr officially left Chelsea. He terminated his contract with the London club early and returned to Ligue 1.
Sarr's new club is Lens, with whom he signed a two-year contract with an option to extend for an additional season.
Sarr joined Chelsea in the summer of 2020 from Nice as a free agent. During his time with the Blues, he played only 21 matches. Previously, Chelsea loaned him to Porto and Monaco.
Last season, Lens finished seventh in Ligue 1. In August, they will compete in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
